Kehrig Construction, Inc. was started from scratch in 1990 and continues to build on the same common principles and values that have made Kehrig Construction, Inc. the company that people use over and over.

The founder (John III) has been in the building and remodeling industry most of his life. He grew up in the steel industry and took both wood and metal shop as early as grade school. There is a long line of businessmen at least four generations deep. John’s father (John II) started the company known as Utica Steel Sales, after serving in the Korean War. His Grandfather (John I) tried his hand at many different companies but came back to the sheet metal and prototype work. That company is still doing well and is now run by John’s cousins. John’s great grandfather came from Germany, where he ran stone quarries. But when he saw what was happening with the country and the World War, he packed up the family and left it all behind.

John is very proud of his family and heritage. According to him that is where you start with the building of character and a person’s life and beliefs. You have to treat everyone with respect and honesty. This is what he feels has been a major part of the company’s success. Treat people fairly and the way you would want to be treated. One comment made by most customers has been that they are always informed as to what is going on with their project and told what’s going to happen and when. The other item that has been mentioned is the way the company sets up its workload. The philosophy is that they do not start a job until they can stay and work on it till completion.
